1One Cord is All You Get  May 12, 2007 By L. Beeler
A thick piece of silken string with eyelets that keep falling off my glasses. Like previous reviewers, I also was surprised to find I only received one cord. Really expensive after the shipping. I got my lazy self in the car, went down to a brick and mortar store and bought a handful of the same thing for the same price as this one, and was able to inspect the eyelets the make sure they worked. Let the buyer beware.

3Rather Short  Sep 17, 2010 By Pam Tee "mom,wife,fur-mom,book-blogger"
How well you like the Croakie will probably depend on how you like to wear your glasses.

What this thing is a eyeglasses lanyard or tether. It's the variety with the rubbery-latex figure eight thing on the end that you can tighten around the arm-joint near the actual lenses of your glasses.

Personally, I'm not all that keen on the design. But I didn't know that until this purchase. (I'm new to glass wearing) I find I like the sort of tether with the cloth that fits tightly over the ends of the ear piece, but this present design isn't all that bad except for the length. It's seems really short to me. I mean when I put them on my glasses must touch my face, whereas with the other style I have plenty of room and don't have to worry that I'm going to poke myself in the eye, (did I mention I'm not all that coordinated.)

The short cord also means the glasses must be closed when 'hanging free' because otherwise the arms touch your neck.

If you don't mind the short cord it's a decent buy. Otherwise keep shopping.

5Excellent  Jul 18, 2009 By philo_vance
If you're like me, your first question regarding this product is, "What on earth is a Croakie?" Let me explain that to you. A Croakie is an elastic band that has a metal cinch around its middle. The cinch makes the band look like a figure-8 and can slide either way on the band creating a larger or smaller loop. So, you can move the cinch away from the end to open up the loop, slip it over the earpiece of your glasses, and then slide the cinch the other way to tighten the loop so that it holds the earpiece tightly.

If you're still having trouble visualizing, just think of a Hangman's Noose. Open 'er up, slide 'er over the desperado's head, tighten 'er down when you get to his neck. Got it now? (I wonder if that's why they call it a "Croak-ie".)

This simple device works quite well hanging on to your glasses. Attach one to both ends of a piece of soft, non-kinking nylon cord of appropriate length, and you have a simple but effective way of comfortably hanging your glasses around your neck when you don't need them. But when the fine print gets a little too fine, your specs are right there for you to put on.

I find that with most pairs of glasses, the very end of the earpiece widens and this is perfect for Croakies. Open up the loop, slide it over the earpiece just until it narrows a bit (i.e. the desperado's neck) and then tighten it. Unless you really pull on your specs, this arrangement will hold them securely. This is just my preference - I find them comfortable this way. You can attach them wherever you please, as long as they would have to go past a wider part (i.e. the desperado's head) to keep them from slipping off.

Prior to purchasing these, I was regularly finding that my Reading Glasses were either on the other side of the house when I needed them, or I just didn't have any idea where they were and would have to hunt for them. This is no longer a problem. Thanks Eyesave!

5Comfort  Sep 22, 2010 By Tadashi Ishihara "tadcar"
I use this as a sunglass retainer. It is very comfortable. Makes going in and outdoor easy!

4great price -- occasionally grippers slip  Feb 21, 2010 By George C. J. Fleck II "crumpled george"
great price -- the silicone grippers are a good idea, but they need to be tightened frequently
(my reading glasses are usually resting on my shirt and are on and off a lot). Recommended for price.
